Most cycling complaints are not accidents. They are repetitive overload: the same joint, tendon or contact point taking slightly too much strain, thousands of times per ride, until it becomes a problem. Injury prevention through bike fitting is about reducing that overload before it turns into pain you have to solve.

How position affects overload
When the position spreads load sensibly, no single structure is forced to absorb more than its share on every pedal stroke. When it does not, small errors accumulate β at the knee, the Achilles, the saddle contact or the hands β because cycling repeats the same movement under load far more often than most sports.
Prevention is most valuable at the moments load is about to rise or change:
- you are increasing training volume or starting a structured block
- you are on a new bike or have changed your position
- you are building up to an event
- you are returning to riding after a break or an old issue
